One year and counting on......

On 20/10/2010, at 2010h, we took our vow to walk our life together. On 20/10/2011, we are going to celebrate our first year together today.

It has been a year of ups and downs. As a newly wed couple, squabbles are inevitable as we begin our union together with different expectations. I am glad that things work out and we are still as loving as before.

Your actions of care speak louder than words of love.

Very soon, we will be embarking on another part of a new journey all together. :)

Time flies

Yes it does, it's the month of October! A special month as the 20th marks the wedding anniversary of me and dear hubby. And 20th also marks dear hubby's birthday!

We haven't really sit down and decide where shall we go for celebration. Too much happenings. PSLE......plus the daily condition I am in nowadays. Moreover, 20th is the last day for PSLE marking, let's hope both of us end early on that day so that we can go for a simple celebration. We shall see......

My belated wedding proposal watch

Hubby happened to see a watch on a magazine and thought that the limited edition Tag Heuer watch is quite nice. We decided to check it out on Saturday, however we were disappointed. We went to a few Tah Heuer boutiques (Ion, Wisma Atria) and a few The Hour Glass and Sincere Watch outlets, but all of them did not have the watch anymore.

We thought the chances of finding it would be very slim as there is only 250 pieces available and it was launched in September 2010. We decided to forget about it and continue searching for my dream Omega watch.

We went into one of the Hour Glass Outlet at Orchard Central to look at the Omega watches but the collection they had for Omega watches is pathetic. We walked around and saw the Tag Heuer watches. Something caught Hubby's eye and he said that's the limited edition watch. Both of us were shocked at this unexpected find!

I hesitated for a while if I should get the watch. After considering the versatility of wearing the watch, I decided to go ahead with the Tag Heuer.

As for the Omega, I shall save up and buy it myself. :)

The one I am aiming for.

Our first couple tee

Both of us usually don't entertain the idea of getting a couple tee, reason being it looks and feels odd when you are out shopping and everyone looks at you as if you have 4 eyes, 2 noses and 2 mouths.

But we were at Batam last Saturday and we went to the Polo Ralph Lauren shop. We got our first ever couple tee.

We wore the tee to Jurong Point, together with our Vibram Five Fingers shoes, you can imagine the numbers of head turns to look at us. Haha.

Sushi Making Session

Hubby and I each bought a sushi mat at Daiso and we decided to do a trial for sushi before inviting our friends for the hands-on.

I went for a crash course for sushi making during my poly days (gosh! that was like eons ago!!) and it seems that I have excellent memory, for I still remember how to roll the sushi. :)
First step: to place the seaweed on the sushi mat, then wet fingers, spread sushi rice evenly on seaweed, arrange the egg properly.

then you roll......

and you roll......

Remember to press tightly so that the sushi is nice and firm. :)

There you go. :)

Birthday Celebration part 2

I had a special, one-and-only birthday cake this year.
We walked past Icing Room and dear dear said he will design a cake for me. :)

A specially designed birthday cake from my hubby.

认真的男人最有魅力
(Men are most attractive when they are doing something seriously.)

He insists that age is not a secret.

A cake with love!

End product

Celebrating my significant 3-0 with my significant half.

Age is just a number, and I pose with it! :)

I wish that as I get older, I look younger. (then I shall become Benjamin Buttons...LOL)

The cake tastes even nicer when it is done specially for me.
吃在嘴里,甜在心里
Happy birthday to me!

Advanced Birthday Celebration

We are a weird couple. We celebrate belated V-day but celebrated my birthday in advanced.

We went to a fine dining restaurant named Kumo Japanese Kaiseki this afternoon. It's located at Icon Village which is near to Tanjong Pagar.

Below is the introduction taken from the website:
Each dish is meticulously prepared, paying attention to the finest of detail. The chef is the artist. Using only the freshest ingredients, he creates delightful dishes according to the changing seasons. At KUMO, they present the Spring春,Summer夏, Autumn秋, Winter冬 menus of Osaka to sunny Singapore.

Each meal is a story with seven chapters. Opening with Zensai前菜, it develops with Wanmori椀盛,and Sashimi刺身,climaxes at Yakimono焼き物 and Takiawase煮物 and concludes with Gohan御飯,and Deza-toデザート,Each chapter is thoughtfully served at the appropriate pace, and some are presented with an element of surprise.

Hubby ordered the Lunch Kaiseki.

Zensai前菜 (Appetizer): Assorted 3 appetizers of the day.
Seriously we have no idea what are we eating.

Sashimi刺身: Sashimi Moriawase

Takiawase煮物: French duck with marinated eggplant served cold

Yakimono焼き物: Grilled US beef served with steamed rice and soup
The soup: simple yet flavouful

Deza-toデザート (Dessert): Choya jelly

The birthday girl ordered the Raku-un Bento.
Raku-un is 乐云 written in Japanese, which means happy clouds in Chinese.

Zensai前菜 (Appetizer): Pan seared autumn vegetables (lotus root, radish, carrot & burdock)
Wanmori椀盛: Bonito soup with wheat cake, tofu & mizuna

Bento set which consists of:

Sushi Moriawase: Assorted sushi of the day (serves separately)

Assorted sashimi of the day

Grilled chicken skewers with house-made yakitori sauce - taste heavenly

Assorted prawn and vegetables tempura

Rice ball

Pan-fried teriyaki salmon steak

Stewed pork belly - no fats at all! Amazing!!

My dessert is just a slice of rock melon. No picture taken. Though the rock melon was really sweet and tasty.
The lunch kaiseki costs $62.06 and my bento set costs $44.94 after GST.

You may visit the Kumo homepage for more information.

Post V-day Celebration

14th Feb was spent with me in Amore working out with a group of ladies in pink (it was our dress code!) while hubby went for his valentine run.

We went for dinner at Cheval Cafe Bar Bistro, located at Singapore Turf Club Riding Centre.

Caesar Salad with crab meat

A generous serving of crab meat

Fish & Chips
Succulent meat

Salmon Fillet. The fat between the skin and the meat makes the fillet tastes heavenly.
Thank god it's good fat.

Chocolate lava cake with coffee ice-cream

Chocolate oozing in action

Cheval is a nice and quiet place, where one can relax and enjoy the serenity. Hubby and I are thinking of holding our anniversary dinner over here. :)
